Today, March 27, the CPEDEE President Ian Feldman attended the opening session of non-discrimination workshop, which was addressed to the representatives of the State Chancellery.
Between 27 to 31 March, Council for Preventing and Eliminating Discrimination and Ensuring Equality, in the partnership with the Council of Europe, is going to organise a workshop about best European practices in regard to non-discrimination for supporting the alignment of the national level to the legal standards of the European Social Charter. Discussions are going to be facilitated by international experts, the Council of Europe consultants: Marek Antoni Nowicki and Dmitri Bartenev and national expert Dumitru Slisarenco.
The CPEDEE President Ian Feldman mentioned: “One the most important Council’s goals is to promote the non-discrimination principles and equal opportunities. In this context, during the last years, there have been organised several informative sessions in order to respect the non-discrimination principles in all areas of activities. We are certain that participation of the international and national experts will provide a deeper understanding of the discrimination phenomenon and the non-discrimination principles and human rights will be applied by the participants in their professional activity and in personal life”.
The workshop is addressed to the following beneficiaries:
On March 27th – the State Chancellery representatives of the territorial offices
On March 28th – Kindergarten managers (Ministry of Education);
On March 29th – Representatives of district hospitals (Ministry of Health);
On March 30 – The Military Academy and the Police Academy students;
On March 31st – The journalists’ community.
The everyday workshop is going to have two sessions, in the first part, it will present the International and European standards on non-discrimination, the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights, the revised European Social Charter and the European Union standards. In the second part, discussions will be focused on the national context on non-discrimination issues: legal practices and issues, referring to national non-discrimination legislation, national non-discrimination protection mechanisms, stringent issues and vulnerable groups.
We are confident that participation in such activities will effectively contribute to the prevention and elimination the discrimination in society.
The workshop is going to be organised within the framework of the Project “Supporting national efforts to prevent and combat discrimination in the Republic of Moldova”.
