Council presentation

The Council for Preventing and Eliminating Discrimination and Ensuring Equality is an autonomous, unbiased and independent public authority, established in 2013.

The Council members are appointed by the Parliament of Moldova for a 5-year term. Membership: an Feldman, Victorina Luca, Gheorghina Drumea, Carolina Bagrin and Andrei Lungu

The Council is chaired by Ian Feldman.

MISSION: to prevent and protect against discrimination, to ensure equality and to promote equal opportunities and diversity.

VISION:  to build an inclusive society where people enjoy their rights and freedoms and equal opportunities regardless of their sex, race, colour, ethnicity, nationality, language, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion or belief, opinion, political affiliation or any other similar ground.

WHAT WE DO:

  • Examine the compatibility of current legislation and draft laws with non-discrimination standards;
  • Monitor implementation of legislation;
  • Examine complaints and reinstate the rights of victims of discrimination;
  • Raise awareness and inform society in order to eliminate all forms of discrimination.
